The Query Builder

  • Use the query builder to find a list of patients that meet a set of rules or criteria
  • A set of actions can be performed on this list of patients

Open the query builder from the toolbar or the tools/reports menu.

Searching for Patients

Enter your criteria (rules) into the upper table

  1. Define which piece of patient information (field) is used in this rule. (The drop-down list includes information from the patient’s demographic details, appointments, clinical notes and accounts.) 
  2. Select the operator which defines the comparison method.
  3. Enter or select the information value to compare with the patient’s information 

Additional rules

When adding an additional rule 

  • Use the joiner AND  when both rules apply
  • Use the joiner OR when either rule applies.

When multiple rules are used with both AND and OR joiners, you should use brackets around OR rules. 

Running the Query

After entering the rules, click on [Search]

Results

The Results table will present patients that match your rules.

Expand

To add other patients that match another set of rules

Enter these in the Search Rules then press [Expand]

The new Results table will include previous results and any new patients found in the new set of rules

(Similar to using the OR function for rules)

Refine

Search for patients by entering a set of rules and press [Search]

The Results table will present patients that match your rules.

To add further rules that these patients must meet

Enter these new rules in the Search Rules then press [Refine]

The new Results table will include patients found meeting both sets of rules

(Similar to using the AND function for rules)

Load

Load a set of patients from a CSV file. (e.g. created by exporting to excel )

The first column must be their Patient Id or the NHI number

Further expansion or refinements can then be made. Actions can be performed on the loaded patient list.
