New Prescription Rules
New rules have been introduced to encourage Best Practice Prescribing
Medications should be prescribed by their generic name
Exceptions for selected medications that must be by trade name (e.g. thyroid, insulins)
If other medications are prescribed by trade name , they must be endorsed as “No substitution permitted”
The indication or reason for prescribing this medication must be supplied
Signature exempt prescription will now be sent to chemists by the e-prescription broker . This will be by a secure method and emails are no longer acceptable.
Select the chemist from the supplied list that includes the required Facility Id
